Coming Close to God

When I was very little, I lived in Northern Ireland. Because I was so young, I don’t really remember much about it. But there is one thing I do remember – a hurricane! I think its name was Hurricane Debbie – all hurricanes have names. I can remember cars lying on their roofs upside down on their roofs. Trees uprooted, and dustbins flying down the road. I wasn’t allowed out of the house for ages. That kind of power in nature can be really scary.

I have lots of memories of powerful things that are also

beautiful though. I once went to Niagara Falls when I was in Canada. That was truly amazing and awesome! I stood about three meters away from all those tons of water crashing down and thought, ‘what an incredible God we have. He made all this!’ God is unbelievably powerful and awesome but he still wants us to get to know him and be close to him.

That thought just takes my breath away. Prophet Musa was close to God and got to talk him – although he still asked God if he could see his dazzling light. God did let him but he put him in a gap in the rocks so Prophet Musa wouldn’t die when God showed his light. Being close to God, Prophet Musa’s face glowed. Being close to God can change us too. When we follow God we can show others what he is really like. Perhaps our faces shine a little bit, too.
